Double Chin Reduction

Sometimes no matter how much you exercise you can not reduce the fullness under the chin, generally referred to as a double chin. A double chin maybe a concern for both men and women. This stubborn deposit can be caused by a number of changes to the body such as ageing and weight gain or it may be as a result of genetics.

A double chin can make you look older and heavier than you actually are, but now there is an effective, non-surgical way to treat your double chin.

It is fast and convenient and does not require any surgical procedure.

FAQs

What is the Treatment?

This is an injectable treatment, a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid which occurs naturally in our bodies. Fat cell membranes are destroyed when injected with this treatment allowing the fat within the cell to be released and then naturally eliminated by the body. When injected below the chin, fat is reduced, resulting in a more contoured neck profile and jawline.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Many patients experience visible improvements of their chin profile in two to four dermal filler treatments. Whilst each individual is different, we have found that generally most patients only require up to two sessions, however up to six treatments maybe administered spaced six weeks apart.

If you have any questions or concerns please call me clinic to speak with one of our Cosmetic Physicians, Aesthetic Nurses or staff members.
What is the Recovery Time?

Treatment sessions are usually six weeks apart. There is no need for bandaging however the area injected can feel like internal sunburn and there maybe subsequent swelling which could last a few days. We would therefore recommend if you intend on dealing with the public, or you wish to make sure no one knows you have received treatment, then delay these interactions for several days just to be sure.

You can expect that the side effect will be the highest after the first session with all future side effects reduced for any subsequent treatments.

Remember this is a non surgical approach for under chin fullness due to fat deposits, and these fat cells do not return.
How Much Does This Treatment Cost?

At your initial consultation your practitioner will determine the number of treatments required to suit your individual requirements and we can then advise appropriate costs involved for your treatment.
Can this treatment be used on other areas of the body like the bottom?

Not at this point. The only recommended treatment area is the treatment under the chin for fat.
Who is not a good candidate for this treatment?

Patients with loose skin and minimum neck fat as well as pregnant women or women breast feeding should not consider this treatment or any injectable treatment.
Does this treatment hurt?

The treatment has a mild discomfort and is therefore not considered painless. It can feel like sunburn under the skin.
What are the other non-surgical options?

Your only real other options are treatments that involve freezing or fat heating devices.
Will this treatment help with my loose skin too?

There may be some skin tightening as a result of the treatment.
Can I expect any downtime as a result of this treatment?

There is some swelling of the neck post treatment which can last for a few days. So you may wish to not attend any face to face interactions during this time.
